The Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari has taken a swipe on the service chiefs over their strategy in tackling insecurity in the country.
Babagana Monguno, National Security Adviser, disclosed this to journalists after a security briefing on Tuesday.
Monguno said Buhari was planning a complete re-engineering of the nation’s security apparatus.
He further said that the President told service chiefs, who attended the briefing, that their efforts was not good enough.
Recall the spate of bombing and killings by the insurgent groups, Boko Haram and Herdsmen is on the increase. Another blast target at the convoy of the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, by persons suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists, was proof that governors are also vulnerable.
However, the Borno governor yesterday came to make a claim that his convoy was attacked by the soldiers in Zulum, not Boko Haram attack has previously rumoured.
“Bashir Magashi, Minister of Defence is working on something and will likely give a new direction to the security agencies in the days to come,” Monguno said.
