A woman identified as Dr. Cynthia Kudji and her daughter, Dr. Jasmine Kudji, have both graduated with medical degrees in Louisiana, United States.
According to a Facebook post by the Ghana Physicians and Surgeons Foundation, this is the first time to have a mother and daughter “attend medical school at the same time and match at the same institution”. Having two medical degrees is a rare feat indeed, its a hallmark of black excellence.
Dr. Kudji, pregnant with daughter Jasmine at 23, paused her dreams of becoming a doctor then proceeded to pursue a career in nursing, and working for almost a decade before making a move to attend medical school.
Dr. Cynthia Kudji of Ghanaian descent got a degree in Family Medicine at Louisiana State University Health, while Dr. Jasmine Kudji also matched in General Surgery at the same University.
